Østre Strandgate sett fra Vestre Strandgate, før brannen 1892.  Opprinnelig enetasjes bygning, påbygd tidlig på 1800-tallet. Nederste etasje i tømmer, andre etasje i bindingsverk. Skodder for engelske skyvevinduer, og liggende panel, etter engelsk mønster. Blåglaserte hollandske takstein.
 
Østre Strandgate seen from Vestre Strandgate, before the fire of 1892. Originally a single storey building, extended early in the 19th century. The lower storey in traditional log style - the upper in framework construction. Shutters for the English style sash windows and horizontal panelling according to the English pattern. Dutch glazed roofing tiles.

Rådhusgaten to the left, Festningsgaten to the right. One of the oldest houses in Kristiansand, now moved to ”Fylkesmuseet” – the County Museum. A private house, then a police station in the inter-war period.
